Medicine Ball Training should be part of every strength and fitness training program for every athlete or client. Movements that require shifting, bending, rotating and balance are important in athletics and in life.

There are many movements in life and sports that involve acceleration while shifting or moving weight from one side to the other to complete a task. For example, a golfer can reduce risk of injury and improve performance by learning to transfer momentum from rear to front during a complete golf swing. Due to poor movement skills, many have not mastered patterns to complete these fundamental tasks (rotation, weight shifting, and balance, etc...), in a coordinated, efficient manner. Med ball training will help establish or re-establish these movement skills.

Training with medicine balls will allow your clients and athletes to develop power in areas that traditional weight training can't. The medicine ball allows the development of power in the core and teaches athletes and clients to link the upper body to the lower body. Chest throws develop power in the pressing muscles while simultaneous overhead throws develop power in the trunk flexors and the decelerative capabilities of the rotator cuff. Rotational medicine ball training allows the development of core power by linking the hands to the hips.
