RESISTANCE BANDS

Functional Strength Training Equipment

Best For
Developing Movement Strength

Training with Resistance Bands

Resistance bands will be best utilized with a "focus on the development of movement strength". This fitness training program methodology, known as functional training, focuses on the development of movement strength, not just muscle strength. Taking a strength development from movement and skill perspective rather than the perspective of isolated muscle hypertrophy develops neuromuscular efficiency-the body's ability to move efficiently as an integrated unit. This optimal functioning reduces injuries and improves performance.

To progressively overload a functional movement, we must figure out what forces need to be overcome. Then we overload those forces in order to bring about strength through functional movement . According to Juan Carlos Santana, owner and director of Institute of Human Performance in Boca Raton, Florida, "When looking at the characteristics of band and pulley training (BPT), most conditioning professionals quickly observe the key advantage provided by BPT is the ability to load non-vertical vectors.

Although all resistance strength training routines involves force vectors, we coined the phrase "N2V training" when referring to BPT because of the ability to load any resultant vector associated with a specific movement".

There is vertical and non-vertical vectors. We can strength and condition the body vertically with the approriate strength and fitness training equipment. Bands and pulleys are perfect to overload the non-vertical vectors. We can strengthen the movements needed to overcome inertia and manipulate momentum by progressively overlaoding the non-vertical vectors with bands and pulleys.

Multiple speeds, angles, and loads can be functionally trained to simulate different sports health and fitness training activities. A wise integration of a variety of the best exercise training equipment will provide the best results. Using the correct tool for the right application is the determining factor in the success of any training modality.

Any way you want to look at it, functional fitness training programs with resistance rubber bands and tubing results in more productive functional fitness and strength training routines!
